Day 5 of the treatment peeing poison.

Ok everyone. I see that this blog has gotten a lot more hits then I originally thought it would. Liz and I appreciate all the comments and kind words. Today marks day 5 of the cancer killing cocktail and so far my skin has not fallen off. You think I’m kidding? Nope that was one of the many possible side effects. Yep, skin blistering off was around ten minutes into the list. I think it was before skin turning yellow? Truth be told I really haven’t had any side effects to the drugs thus far.

Apparently the drugs are as lethal coming out of me are they are going in. I have to double flush to make sure no one else comes in contact with the drugs. I had to sign paperwork agreeing that no one will even touch the drug but me and I got to wash up after popping the pill. I am not sure if I am in clear for all the side effects or if it’s something that can slowly creep up on you. For now I am going to assume I am too impressive for side effects.

Overall things are going well. I mean yeah I got the cancer, which isn’t what most people think of as well, but I am feeling better then I did a couple weeks ago. My back is not bothering me as much anymore. It’s been a week since I got any spasms and am getting around a lot better then I was a week ago.

I did check in with the Ortho Doc today to get an update and plan on my back. I apparently have at least three more weeks in the brace with a 5lbs carry limit. Then we go back and take pictures and see if I can start physical therapy. It’s also going to take awhile to get my bone density back up. At this point I need to make sure I don’t re-injury anything or break something else while we are patching the bones back up.

It was a bit disappointing to hear that I am in the brace for that long. The brace isn’t uncomfortable but it also isn’t really flattering. It doesn’t fit well over jeans so I’ve turned into one of those people who are wearing jogging and track pants out in public way too often. If I liked that look I would have stayed in Revere.

He also told me I shouldn’t be driving, apparently not being able to turn and look around in the brace could be problematic to operating a vehicle.

Tuesday I go in for another shot and get my blood work. Not sure how long it takes to know if the meds are doing their thing or not.

One good thing about being diagnosed with Cancer on the week of your birthday? You can pretty much buy yourself any birthday gift you want and your loving wife will agree you deserve it. I picked up some new toys for my home studio. Got a new set of studio monitors and a Mic and ISO booth. I’ve been spending some time up here working on some new and old songs. Oh yeah, cancer doesn’t make me sing any better either. I checked.

New vocal Mic and ISO booth!

Overall, feeling pretty good. Anxious to start the back rehab and get back to work.
