As you can see like Superman I am out of the brace. Went to the Ortho doc today and we took new images of the spine. While it is not totally healed, that can take up to 8 months for compression fractures, he gave the all clear to start weening off the brace. Like Superman I am going to have to go into Clark Kent mode and put on the brace until I can build up the core muscles that took a six week vacation. Those muscles were not hitting the gym at the resort. They were drinking and eating like pigs and now lost all memory of what they were made for.
I still have a 5lb lift restriction for at least another couple weeks. Sitting without the brace to type this I can feel those vacation muscles regretting their life decisions. It’s my first time in a chair without the brace in six weeks, I guess I shouldn’t expect perfection.
Bone density continues to be a mystery. I had two infusions of the bone strengthener but there doesn’t appear to be a test to see how effect it is. They have a bone density test but my condition confuses it. It sees the legions and reports weaker bone then it actually is. For now we just assume that the Recast infusion is turning my bones into steel. All in all a good day. One step closer to going back to work, and pickup up this guy again.

Back doc says once I am 100% comfortable out of the brace I can start physical therapy. I am hoping to being doing that in a week he was thinking two or three week, but we will see. Guessing I am going to have some sore days ahead but its going to be the soreness of shinny new muscle.
Round 2 of treatment is still going well. The steroid is giving me cankles but out of the list of approximately 1 million side effect up to and including death, I suppose I can live with fat ankles. I am also slowly weening off the steroids, hopefully this time it will be slow enough not to put my back into spasms again.
Ok time to go back to Clark Kent mode.
