Today I went in for my second shot. The day was essentially a repeat of the week before. We went in they pulled some blood. Tested the blood and gave me a shot. The whole process takes about two hours. Good news is that I still don’t have any side effects. Talking to physicians assistant it’s likely to stay that way. As the treatments go one I can get fatigue or some numbness but it seems I am in the clear for a lot of the really bad reactions.
Unfortunately it is going to be months before we do tests to see how much cancer we are killing. I need to do two month long cycles before re-test. I was kind of hoping for a kill counter. Some blood test that they can tell me just how many of these bastard I am taking out a day. How does this not already exist? Come on science people. I want a flashing display, call of duty style with my number of kills!
I started hitting the treadmill this week. I can’t say I was in great shape to start with but after 3 weeks not moving I am huffing after short walks. Working on getting back into a shape less rounded. Right now it’s a 20min 3/4 mile. Not exactly a marathon but I got a fractured back and cancer so lets not get too judgy.
Liz and I had a good weekend. Some friends came up on Saturday and we hit up my favorite brewery for a couple tasty pints. It was good to get out of the house for a bit and do some normal stuff. I know what some of you are thinking, can you drink while on Cancer drugs? Well the short answer is yes, as long as your platelets are good you can, in moderation. No doctor is going to give the double thumbs up to putting down a dozen beers in one sitting cancer or not. Yes I know what what moderation is. I just haven’t been a fan of it in the past.
Sunday we had friends over and did some recording. I got a little project I am getting ever closer to finishing. I just need a certain bass player to come up to NH and slap the bass for a bit. More to come on that later.
So in general not a lot new to report. Still waiting on the all clear from the back doctor which won’t come until early May at best. Liz and I are trying to keep busy in the meantime. So remember when I mentioned cancer didn’t help my singing? Well I present you with proof of that below. I wrote this song a couple years back but never had the time to a full recording.
Oh I started approving the comments so they are public. I really didn’t know if people wanted them public or just to stay between us so I didn’t approve them before. If anyone does want to stay private let me know when you send the message.
Oh yeah today is Leroy Brown’s birthday. The little man is one year old today.
